Next in our series of blogs introducing our team, we have Adam Jones, one of our consultants.

Have you ever wanted to know more about the Gradient team? We’ve asked each team member a range of questions that we think will help you understand what makes them tick. This month we’re talking to Adam, one of our team of consultants.

Over to Adam!

How do you help Gradient clients?

I help Gradient clients in my role as a consultant performing the following activities:

  • Review and documentation of a client’s current business processes (pre-implementation)
  • Planning and delivery of new Syteline implementations or upgrades
  • Delivery of remote and on-site Syteline user training
  • Advice and guidance around best practice
  • On-going post-implementation support
  • Help desk support

What is your non-negotiable before you start work each day?

I always start my day with a coffee. I also like to go for a run before starting work. It gives me a physical and mental boost. It kick-starts my metabolism and sets me up for the day ahead.

How do you plan your day?/What do you need to do in your day?

My days are planned around the needs and requirements of the clients and projects I am involved in.

I usually dedicate the first half hour of my day is to admin tasks. After that, my day is generally planned around scheduled meetings and training sessions with the clients I am working with.

I will always assign time for creating client training material and I will also assign personal development time to refresh my subject knowledge.

I also keep a eye out for any Gradient Help Desk tickets I feel I can help with.

What is the best thing about working at Gradient?

It is really interesting working with different clients in a variety of different industries. No two projects are ever the same. Each new project provides it’s own unique challenges. The fact that I work with an incredibly supportive and helpful Gradient team really helps.

What has been your career highlight?

My career highlight was joining the Gradient Consulting team, nine years after I worked with the Gradient team on a Syteline implementation at Airline Services.

After 12 years working for Airline Services, I was ready for a new challenge.

With my extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of the Syteline system, I feel that I am perfectly suited to my Gradient role.

What did you do before you worked at Gradient?

Before joining the Gradient team, I worked for an aerospace manufacturing and maintenance company based in south Manchester. Airline Services Interiors designs, manufactures and certifies a range of aircraft interior components. I provided business system support and finance support and reporting.

I don’t really miss working in a traditional office environment. I enjoy the variation and challenges my Gradient role provides.

What is your favourite film or TV program?

My favourite film is The Shining. My favourite TV show is Only Fools & Horses.

Which sports team do you support?

Witton Albion FC. Witton Albion play in the Northern Premier League Premier Division in Northwich. My son signed as a trainee for their U14 JPL academy team at the beginning of last season. He also received a complimentary season ticket. Together, we have attended most of Witton’s home games this year. Much more fun and far less expensive than watching Premier League football. Great to be able to have a beer in the stands while I am watching the game too.

If you were on our quiz team, what would your specialist subject be?

Probably football or music.

Finally, what is one thing about you that someone may not know?

I worked in the restaurant industry earlier in my career with various roles in restaurant management. Before joining Airline Services I worked for the La Tasca restaurant group running a central production kitchen unit near Salford Quays. We produced and distributed a number of the menu items to the many restaurants up and down the country.

Thank you to Adam for being our next team member to write a post, we hope you enjoyed it. We’ll be posting these between our other blogs, so watch out for our next team member.
